Just said that on the match thread.

Allowed Lanzini the confidence to maraud forward, keep him in.

Re: James Tomkins
yes, was superb again. positionally spot on and gives us more depth defending set pieces. the gooner must wait for his next chance

Re: James Tomkins
Have looked solid with him on the pitch.

Beat Leicester 1-0, Bournemouth 3-2 and arsenal and Liverpool with tomkins on the pitch.

Well done tomkins.

Re: James Tomkins
Cant argue with that - Jenks should now be second option until proved otherwise

Re: James Tomkins
He's doing well considering he's not known for being a right back.

Tomkins is 4 wins from 4.

Top of the league, by himself.

Jenks has really got to get the shirt back to be fair...

And he won't

Re: James Tomkins
He did brilliantly there today, although I've got to think the Coutinho going off early helped as he may have caused him problems as the game went on.

But the same could also be said had Jenkinson been there too.

Tomkins doesn't drive forward like Jenkinson but he more than makes up for it with his defensive abilities.

Given a choice I think I would rather have one of our own, even playing out of his usual position, on the pitch and a loan player on the bench.

Re: James Tomkins
Players should always have to win their place otherwise where's the incentive for both players?

Didn't see it but the proof is in there for all to comprehend.

I just love the whole hair style thing. It makes me proud.

Re: James Tomkins
I wouldn't play him there too often, but away from home and aganst a side with a big centre forward who likes to drift towards the right back to gain the aerial advantage, the tactic was perfect.

Tomkins was superb today, but what was more amazing was that Liverpool didn't push Benteke over to the other side to outmuscle Cresswell, probably because Ogbonna was there who refused to be outmuscled by him all day.

Still, fair play to Tonka, was fantastic today.

Re: James Tomkins
Top class again. He's the sort of player that needs to be pushed to produce these sort of performances. When he was guaranteed first choice he sometimes got complacent without competition and form suffered. Been excellent this season so far.
